Using this tip to fix window size from folders on desktop
Authored by: tj2001 on Dec 01, '04 07:52:43PM

Knealy, I'm in the same position as you! The only window I noticed this one is my HD -> Applications folder... I set it for list view and hiding the sidebar and when I reboot, logout or shutdown and I re-open that folder it's like a new window with icon view and all the icons are over-lapped and what not :(

Any ideas for this or how to correct it?

Using this tip to fix window size from folders on desktop

The best way to do it IMO, is a little expansion on Rob's comment in the main hint:

1) Open new Window, do NOT use the window to navigate anywhere
2) Move to correct position on screen
3) Use the resize handle at the bottom right to resize the window slightly
4) Close the window.

Step 3 is the important step - I have discovered you must resize the window (even if it is just by 1 pixel) for the changes to 'stick'

Also bear in mind that window size/position is done on a per directory basis (Using .DS_Store files) - if you open your HD, and then make these changes, they will not necessarily apply to a Finder window you create using 'Command+N'

I have never had this technique fail for me.
