Use this Method to install OS X on a computer with a broken CD/DVD Drive

You can also use this method to install OS X on a machine with a bad CD/DVD drive. I had a slot loading iMac that I wanted to upgrade to 10.3, but the CD drive would only read certain discs; mainly audio CD's. Not being able to boot from the internal CD drive I hooked the CRT iMac up to a newer iMac G4 via firewire and booted it into target disc mode. This allowed me to run the installer off from the iMac G4 but install it on the iMac G3.
