A way to restore and maximize iPod battery life

You can always try the old drain and recharge method. Also, zap your pram.

How old is your battery. after a couple years, 40 minutes is all you'll get.

I wouldn't say that the outlook for battery life is all that dire. I have a 3 year old Powerbook 667Mhz, and I still get about 2 hours, give or take 45 minutes depending on what I'm doing. I've been impressed with how well my battery has held up.

On the other hand, my 1G iPod is down 4 or 5 hours if I'm lucky.

A way to restore and maximize iPod battery life

I have a 2G iPod that is just over 2 years old and I still get 8 hours from the original battery. It's absolutely not true that "after 2 years about 40 minutes is all you'll get". I haven't done anything special (including the suggestions in this tip.)
