Dumb question
Forgive me... this may be a dumb question...
Dumb question
Jasmine, the message you see is the standard one that you see when invoking sudo. Because sudo temporarily gives you extra privileges, it will just remind you that you can potentially do harm if you use it improperly. To actually run the command you want, you will need to enter in the password -- the command will then run, and give you the feedback that let's you know if your machine is compromised.
Dumb question
It means it's the first time you've run sudo. It's asking you to enter your account password. You'll only see this the first time you use sudo. After that, you'll be asked for your password without the usual lecture bit.
Dumb question
*Whew* Thank you! :D
Another Dumb question
My terminal response is :" tcsh: sudo: No match."
Another Dumb question
I get the same ...
Another Dumb question
You are getting this because you're running tcsh as your shell. You are not infected. If you want to check this for sure, in terminal type "bash", then the aformentioned command and you'll find you get the "ls: /Users/*/Public/.info: No such file or directory" output.
Re: Another Dumb question
No, you are not infected. (Well, probably not. There might be variants of Opener that manifest themselves differently. So far, however, we only know of the one.)
Dumb question
no it does not mean that you are infected. You would know that your infected because some of the signs are in your face. Like, programs opening over and over again. Your firewall and shared folders would be active so that outside hackers can get in. The script also sends passwords to the person that wrote the script. Thats why they open your firewall etc. This is also what it is called OPENER. Here is the latest info i attained on this problem. |
