Locking up when you leave...

  • Always use a screensaver/locking program when you leave your machine, even for a minute or two.
If you have a bluetooth phone this feature can be automated with BluePhoneElite (or something similar, BPE is beta), which can do certain things when your phone leaves bluetooth range or enters bluetooth range. I find peace of mind knowing that my computer locks itself up and pauses iTunes for me when I walk down the hall to the printer or break room.

Of course, installing this app requires one to enter the root password, which means you already break rule #6 "Think twice before giving your admin password to every installer that asks for it" :-)
