I suggested booting while holding down ONLY the "c" key, I mentioned nothing about <command><option>...don't mean to be rude but, you've shown 2 instances now where instructions were given and you haven't followed them and then you said "hey, this doesn't work":

1) macfixit says to use Disk Copy to burn the image and you used Toast

2) I suggest booting while holding down "c" and you reiterate that you used another method

Why not try following the macfixit instructions to the letter...then boot to your new CD by holding down the "c" key?

I hope this works for you.

Sorry Rusto, it was a typo on my part, I meant holding the Command + C keys. The only part of the Macfixit instructions I did not follow is to use DiskCopy to Burn the CD instead I used Toast. While I dont see the reason why it should not work with Toast as well; I will try once more to burn the same CD using DiskCopy and hope it will work.

The problem with Mac OS X is that you sort of need to be an advance user, in the sense that for example, its imperative to know how to READ.

Command + C? Where the heck did he say command? c, c, c. That is one, 1, single, lonely key you need to press. You can press it with tour finger, you can press it with your nose, your toes or your butt but press only that single damn key and forget about command + alt + esc + 19875 + F12 will you?

If that does not work try pulling the plug of your computer and wait in front of it some time until it talks to you. It might take a while though so be patient...

Thanks for your nice words but bear with me since I got some signs of Altzheimer and hooked on Command Key; I dont know why but I swear I pressed the C key ONLY and never Command + C.

Just a little footnote, I am a user of the Apple line of computers since 1984.

Please! I don't want to have to read through such attitude at macosxhints. This user clearly stated what he had done, and asked kindly for a hint on what to do... If you think that you are too smart to need hints, and those who needs them are idiots, you are at the wrong place...
