Retain Safari search box terms on tab switch
Actually, the #1 best way to deal with this is to simply hit COMMAND-RETURN (instead of just return) after typing in your search. If you have tabbed browsing enabled and hit COMMAND-RETURN, Safari will automatically create a new tab for your search results. This COMMAND-RETURN trick also works for the location bar as well! This is the greatest feature that Apple has built into Safari!! Thank you, Apple! :)
Don't forget about cmd+shift+return
Using command+shift+return from the location bar or google field results in the page opening in the background under a new tab (assuming tab-browsing is enabled).
Don't forget about cmd+shift+return
Nice one, thanks guys! Why I had never thought to try command/shift-enter is beyond me, but it works a treat!
I noticed that if you have "Select new tabs as they are created" UNchecked, the actions are reversed: Command+Enter pops the tab under, Command+Shift+Enter pops it in front. |
