Install a system-wide GMail status notifier

Cool! Now, if there's one app I've been digging around for and have yet to find it's a POP3 mail notifier. On my Windows boxen, I use ePrompter which is a tray notification util that monitors my mail accounts. At present, it monitors 6, because it also can monitor Yahoo and Hotmail accounts (gmail coming soon). The thing I like most about ePrompter is I can open the mailbox and read each message within it without having to open up a mail app. I can select to delete mails I don't want, and then later download them into Entourage. I've yet to find an app that even comes close to this simple functionality for my Mac. I'm not as concerned about more than POP3 support, as 99% of my mail comes into my home POP3 account. Does anyone know of a good one?
