Bootable CD -OS X
I followed the tip on how to burn a bootable CD for OS X as described in Macfixit but after I burned a CD using Toast Titanium 5.1.1, I could not boot my PowerBook G3 (Wall Street) using the CD. I tried several times by pressind Option+Command and selecting the CD as start up in System Preference but no success.

This worked fine for me...mounting my HD's was the trick once boot was complete. The macfixit instructions specifically say:
4. After quitting the utility, launch Disk Copy to Burn Image of the image file you created. Perhaps using Toast was the problem. Alo, have you tried booting while holding down the C key...this is he usual method of booting from a CD

Yes, I tried to boot using Command+Option keys but did not work.

I suggested booting while holding down ONLY the "c" key, I mentioned nothing about <command><option>...don't mean to be rude but, you've shown 2 instances now where instructions were given and you haven't followed them and then you said "hey, this doesn't work":

Sorry Rusto, it was a typo on my part, I meant holding the Command + C keys. The only part of the Macfixit instructions I did not follow is to use DiskCopy to Burn the CD instead I used Toast. While I dont see the reason why it should not work with Toast as well; I will try once more to burn the same CD using DiskCopy and hope it will work.

The problem with Mac OS X is that you sort of need to be an advance user, in the sense that for example, its imperative to know how to READ.

Thanks for your nice words but bear with me since I got some signs of Altzheimer and hooked on Command Key; I dont know why but I swear I pressed the C key ONLY and never Command + C.

Please! I don't want to have to read through such attitude at macosxhints. This user clearly stated what he had done, and asked kindly for a hint on what to do... If you think that you are too smart to need hints, and those who needs them are idiots, you are at the wrong place...
Unbootable Wallstreet
My Wallstreet does this when ever I give it a bad CD to boot from. Sometimes I get the broken folder icon. My guess is the CD you burned is no good. Here's how I get back up and running: |
