serial to USB printing in X

I have this Keyspan serial-to-USB-connector, I have a Personal Laserwriter LS connected to it.
When I start-up my machine with OS9.1 printing is OK.
When I start-up my machine with OS X 10.1, printing is not OK.
Do I have to use the Printcenter Utility ?

(1) the printer IS working properly when boot into Mac OS 9.x directly, right?
(2) when in OS X, you WILL NOT BE ABLE to print from a Mac OS X pogram, since your printer is not supported. The Print Center, then, is NOT used.
(3) when you start a program in Classic -- a program with the old look-and-feel -- you should be able to print from THOSE programs.
(4) If (3) works for you, you can then "Print Preview" from Mac OS X programs (non-Classic programs), save the results as a PDF file, and use the Classic version of Acrobat Reader to print your files.

Hello Balthisar,

Thank You very much for your answer. But step 3 only works when I booted in OS9, not when I booted is OSX and then start Acrobat Reader under OS9. The machine answers me that there is a problem with the printer.
But, no problem. As soon as the ink-cartridge is empty, I will buy a new printer. The cartridges for the LaserWriter 300 are nowadays quite hard to find, and if You find them, their price is about 140 US$, which is more than the price of a new inkjet-printer and about one third of the price of a new laserprinter.
Thanks anyway !

OK, I solved it !
The problem was due to the fact that I loaded a OSX-Keyspan-driver and installed it, believing that this was necessary when running OSX. So when I wanted to print with an OS9-application, I allways got the message that there was something wrong with the printer.
When booting in OS9, the OSX-Keyspan-driver was not active, so couldn't interfere with the OS9-Keyspan-driver, and all went well.
I uninstalled the OSX-Keyspan-driver, and now I can print with OS9-applications, even when booted with OSX. I can live with that.
This demonstrates that is is no good to have two drivers at once installed for the same peripheral.
Thanks anyway.
