Authored by: PokerPlayer25 on Sep 15, '04 07:00:58PM

I have a Motorola V220 from cingular. I also have a g4 imac. I would like to add some ringtones from the internet and pictures to my phone but i dont have bluetooth and i didnt want to pay for internet on my phone so i cant download files through the usual way. Is there some program for transfering files to my phone. I would really aprreciate any suggestions. Beta software is fine too. thanks.

I'd like to know, too.
I don't know about Bluetooth, but as far as I can tell, the V220 supports USB. I have a cable from an MP3 player that works with it, but I'm not sure if there's anything on the Mac that supports it. On the PC side, once you have the cable, I think you can buy something called 'Mobile PhoneTools' to do everything, but it costs around $60 (last time I checked) and I don't know how well it works.

So, if there's a way to do it on the Mac...

You can get the USB cable on ebay for about $30 - I don't think there is mac software provided by Motorola, but iSync allows you to sync up with Vxxx phones.

I have a Razr V3 with the Blue desktop set and a tiny pin-stripe bar on top where all the icons go. Looks really cool coz it looks like a mini powerbook :)

No, there doesn't seem to be any software from Motorola for the Mac... and I'm not sure they have any plans to support it. :(

The cable is easy to find - I just grabbed the one that came with an MP3 player, but I've heard reports of people getting them at camera stores for less than $5. (Haven't looked, myself.)

iSync does recognize the v220, yes. But I want to be able to move pictures and ringtones to/from the phone, not sync my address books. :)

Move images and mp3s to a cell phone

Hey Makoto,
I'm in the exact same situation -- V220 phone and no software to support transfer of pics and ringtones. After perusing motorola's motocoder site for a while I've figured that I could set up my powerbook's Apache webserver to handle WAP requests, write a little WAP "webpage" with links to the media files I want to put on the phone, and then hit my powerbook's IP address from the V220. As far as transferring pics from the phone to my 'book I guess I could just email them as MMS messages. If anyone's interested I could give out my IP and put your files on my WAP server...

My wife just got a Motorola V220 and we're looking for any and all helpful software. I read elsewhere that iSync recognizes the phone, but I haven't tried it yet.
