Change has come to macosxhints.com...
So, perhaps Privoxy should be next weeks 'Pick of the Week'. I started using it a couple of months ago and love it. It lets you enable banner ads on a per-site basis for those organizations that you want to support, while pretty much blocking all other intrusive content.

Well, it's been mentioned here 10 times already, including a few quite detailed explanations of its usage :).

OK, here's a question I have always had. Lets say you are using Omniweb 5 or Pithelmet in Safari. You have it set to block adds. In the case of macOSXhints the adds pay on a per view basis. If you have the adds blocked, it is still going to be registered as viewed when you visit the site? If not, is there a way to block adds, so I don't have to see them, but the site still get credit for me viewing them. Ok, I soppose you could call this a scam, but I just want to support sites I enjoy, like macOSXhints, but I don't want to see adds. |
