OmniWeb 5 - Powerful and feature-laden web browser
The thing is though, I don't like widescreen. I have a regular aspect 20" LCD display (a Formac) and I use a Powerbook 12". The excessive horizontal space taken by the tabs (even in list mode) are a nuisance to me. As for Safari tabs taking up vertical space, they take at most, what, like 10-15 pixels? That's a far cry from Omniweb's huge amount on the side and I don't find it significant enough to make a difference. Further, I read side to side. Reading down a list vertically feels like a chore.

Yep, that's a nicely succinct description of what I wrote earlier about "too much eye motion shifting focus of attention" with OW5's vertical tabs. That may be contributing to objections some people have with the implementation even when they don't specifically express it. I haven't seen any indication from OmniGroup that they feel this is a significant usability issue for certain (potential) customers, where the benefits simply aren't compelling enough to overcome weaknesses. |
