PBG4/500 vs. PIII/733
Authored by: macX_rocks on Jan 13, '02 03:42:13PM
Ran speed test on PBG4/500 (512MB, macosX 10.1.2) -- Many apps loaded, but none active during test:
                 sign verify sign/s verify/s
rsa 512 bits 0.0059s 0.0006s 168.2 1728.6
rsa 1024 bits 0.0353s 0.0020s 28.3 505.2
rsa 2048 bits 0.2414s 0.0073s 4.1 136.7
rsa 4096 bits 1.6850s 0.0268s 0.6 37.3
sign verify sign/s verify/s
dsa 512 bits 0.0058s 0.0070s 171.5 143.4
dsa 1024 bits 0.0197s 0.0237s 50.9 42.2
dsa 2048 bits 0.0706s 0.0873s 14.2 11.5
Then, ran on PIII/733 (256MB, RedHat 7.1) -- Runs mainly as gateway/firewall/webserver... not much going on during testing:
                  sign verify sign/s verify/s
rsa 512 bits 0.0037s 0.0004s 273.4 2591.4
rsa 1024 bits 0.0228s 0.0013s 43.9 772.0
rsa 2048 bits 0.1521s 0.0045s 6.6 220.0
rsa 4096 bits 1.0550s 0.0164s 0.9 60.9
sign verify sign/s verify/s
dsa 512 bits 0.0040s 0.0050s 250.8 199.6
dsa 1024 bits 0.0132s 0.0163s 75.7 61.4
dsa 2048 bits 0.0448s 0.0553s 22.3 18.1
Hmmm. Well, I still prefer my PB, but the results were interesting.
