Use iTunes to convert MIDI to audio files

If you're interested in converting MIDI to sampled audio, you might want to improve the quality of the resulting audio by changing the default QuickTime sound font. This has been covered previously on MacOSXHints.

Be aware that QuickTime is a soft synth and on slow Macs it may not be able to render MIDI sound in real time using a high-quality font. But I suspect a music tech teacher would have the latest G5:s at his disposal.

Funnily enough, the QuickTime default font is very good for its size and CPU requirements.

But... does anyone know how to convert .MOD files? There was a plug-in for SoundJam...
