Better safe than sorry?
Authored by: mkutny on Aug 28, '04 01:06:30AM

Working with Win PCs so often has made me rather paranoid, and one of the first things I did after switching a couple years back was install Norton. On the PC side I tend to use AVG, and cannot stand Norton... but it seems to run fine in OS X.

Thanks to Norton, I've found lots of PC viruses in my e-mail! ;-)

I keep wondering if I should just uninstall Norton, but I can't bring myself to do it. Too many bad memories of my first PC virus over 10 years ago (DOS based - killed a bunch of programs and install floppies).

Best virus checker on the market

For nearly a year now I've been using a fantastic virus checker built by Apple. I believe they title it OS X 10.3 Panther. Sometimes I turn on my firewall and then just sit back and laugh!

Seriously though, how many viruses do you know for OS X. The only type I know is a few exploits of the concept virus that show an executable as a mp3 file. Basically, if I back up my home directory periodically I have nothing to worry about.

When Microsoft asks you, "Where do you want to go today?" tell them "Apple."
