Games on a Mac?

Ah, but there you have a nice Catch-22 ... if everyone takes your approach, then the Mac market will never sell more than 50K units, because even as the user base increases, people still keep playing on their PCs. Mac game publishers won't be able to win.

My approach: I use my PC only for games that I can't find on the Mac. For instance, Far Cry, which was an awesomely fun first person shooter. It may some *year* make it to the Mac, but I'm not holding my breath. Other major titles, though, if I know they're coming to the Mac, I'll hold out for the Mac versions -- Doom3 is a good example.

Sometimes, though, my impatience gets the best of me, and I end up buying a version for each platform :)

True, but games aren't usually what sells the computers. If the user base increases to the point where selling games to that platform is more profitable, then it should work out. Whenever I can I buy Mac versions of my games. However, the games I usually like to play either don't come out for the Mac (most MMOGs), or when they do are not compatible with the PC versions (Damn you Sony for the EQ:Mac debacle!), or they don't have a distinct Mac version box (Diablo 2). Now I'm not saying all games that people can get on both platforms support the 'Mac ideal', but it's VERY difficult.

How could you possibly hold out for Doom3? You sicko! ;-)
I've gotten it, and I think am pretty close to the end. Mac version should be out sometime after I beat it. However, I think they're not going to release a Mac-only boxed version (I think Hollenshead said that in one of his .plans), which means you're waiting for no reason... :-(

Oops, he was talking about no Linux boxed version... Mac will hopefully be boxed, and I'll definitely purchase it, even if I never play it on my Mac.

"Mac and Linux: Unfortunately I don't have dates for either of these. However, Linux binaries will be available very soon after the PC game hits store shelves. There are no plans for boxed Linux games."
