Digital FireworX -- Great indoor fireworks
Personally, as a screensaver, I prefer Skyrocket. It is an OpenGL module in which the camera flies around in space, showing the fireworks from all angles. The environment consists of a suburban landscape on the ground, translucent clouds, the moon, stars and distant mountains. It doesn't have sound or keyboard control (in the Mac OS X version), but as a screensaver, it fills the bill for me. Source code is available as well.

I have to agree with "olivesoft" about Skyrocket. I've had that for years on my PeeCee at work and it's a nice use of OpenGL and particles. I was glad to hear it got ported over. The "ground" may be dull but otherwise this is a great saver for OS X. DFX is nice and it's good to see that it's updated but it doesn't compare to Skyrocket. |
