This is new as of 10.3. Before that, Outlook meeting requests came through in the text of the message, so you could save them, strip out the email headers, and then double-click them. Now, at least, we don't have to take the extra steps.

If you look in the .ics file, the time zone is specified as a text string ("TZID:Pacific Time (US & Canada)\, Tijuana", for example). This string does not match the output of iCal from the left coast ("TZID:US/Pacific"). Does anyone know where the Time Zone strings are defined. I've unsuccessfully looked for them in the obvious places. Finding the string definitions and a method to change them would probably complete the solution to Outlook integration.

I've seen this before but so far I've never been able to get it to work (I'm using Panther and the most up-to-date Mail.app (1.3.8)). If I go into Outlook (2003) at work and invite my .Mac e-mail address to a meeting, I get the invite in Mail.app as text-only message with no attachment, e.g.: |
