Access recent Classic documents from the dock

If you choose "Show Classic status in menu bar" from the Classic prefs, the drop-down menu in the menu bar includes all of the Apple menu from Classic.

Although this strays from the hint because it doesn't show in the dock, it is an easy way to get to the Classic Apple menu.

Just thought I'd point that out. . . .

Jason

hmmm, now that you mention it, is there a way to get the OS X "Recent Items" in the dock?

AFAIK, not without writing a utility to do so. The data is contained in '~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist', rather than in a folder with aliases. You can install it in the Apple Menu or in your Contextual Menus with FruitMenu.
