Force installation of Java 1.4.2

I don't think I had it either. I ended up downloading the stand alone installer, opening the package and editing the script file that controls the version checking so that it would pass the version check and install. (Of course I made a copy of the package and edited that.) All was well.

Force installation of Java 1.4.2

I too did not have the QuickTimeJava package. So I downloaded the Java1.4.2Update package, made a copy, edited the /Java142Update2.pkg/Contents/Resources/VolumeCheck perl script (by removing the whole DO_CHECKS: function) and I was able to reinstall and my java bus error problem was solved. Thanks for the direction.
