iTunes Smart Playlists can cause slow app loading
Authored by: DougAdams on Jul 07, '04 10:39:08AM

I can't see how this can be fixed. If you have 38 Smart Playlists with Live Updating, it's like running 38 mini applications. It's a matter of precessor usage, isn't it? Cut down on the Smart Playlists, or, unless you gotta have Live Updating, copy the Smart Playlists to new Plain Old playlists once they have been assembed.

i don't know if it's the smart playlists

i'm running 10.3.3 on a tibook 500 w/768 MB ram. i have a 40 GB hard drive. i have about 300 smart playlists and about 3400 total songs in iTunes. i've had no slowdown in iTunes launching...in fact, it started up this morning on one bounce!

rather than the smart playlists, could it be the size of your hard drive that's causing the slow down? or perhaps some other thing?
