I can't say I actually understand this hint - maybe because I don't use AOL Instant Messenger.

I think the author was referring to the actual "Away Message" shown just below your screen name in iChat. It's the auto-response part of the application - you can set it to say "Away", or "I'll be back in 10 minutes", for example, so that when people message you, then get that response regardless of if you're sitting at your computer or not.

I don't understand why this hint is needed. AIM has two ways to make an away message. One is called "I'm Away..." which is just for quick little messages you make up on the fly. |
