Re-ripping CDs to new formats in iTunes

If you're willing to deal with the double-lossy-compression issue (hint: it's a terrible idea.. but hey, it saves time), just change the import to whatever you want in the preferences, select the tracks you want to convert, and go to Advanced -> Convert Selection. Don't even need the original CD. But of course using varying psychoacoustical models for lossy compression can be.. problematic.

Hi!

Doesn't the Advanced -> Convert... create a duplicate of the file(s) you convert? Any way of talling iTunes to update the originale and not make a duplicate?

TIA!
