10.3: Disk Utility installs OS 9 drivers by default
Authored by: simpleton2 on Jun 13, '04 05:38:02PM

I have a powerbook hard drive formatted for 10.3 (without OS9 drivers), can I re-format it (down grade the formatting) using 10.2.8's disk utility instead and select the box with OS 9 drivers?

Trying to get my Powerbook G3 Wallstreet to "see" the bare drive when installed internally.

TIA

**** Never mind, I solved this myself ****

I put the pwbk hd in an external usb case and connected it to an iMac G4 running Jaguar (not panther). I reformatted the drive (making sure the "include OS 9 drivers" was checked), then I put the drive back into my Wallstreet Pwbk and booted up off an OS 9.2 install cd and the drive mounted no problem.

Hope this helps somebody else.

For some reason it appeared that my Wallstreet Powerbook just would not recognize a bare drive formatted with Panther (go figure).
