Mysterious crashes? Try repairing the sparseimage
"Repair Drive" doesn't fix the permissions. It repairs the volume structure. "Repair Permissions" is disabled for all but the startup volume.
Mysterious crashes? Try repairing the sparseimage
To add to this hint, you can also use Disk Warrior to repair the FileVault volume. Start out logged in as another user, as described in the hint. I found that if you just go ahead and mount the sparseimage, Disk Warrior will see it as a locked disk and be able to scan it, but not repair it. So, before double-clicking the sparseimage file to mount it, select it and open up the Get Info panel (Command-I). Go down the "Ownership & Permissions" section, and click the Details disclosure triangle. Next to Owner, click the lock symbol if it is not already unlocked. Switch the Owner to the user you are currently logged in as. You may need to authenticate as an admin user. |
