a tip to slightly increase the chance of retrieving a lost iPod...

I have owned several iPods since they first hit the market, but thankfully I've never lost one. I've only given my old ones to family, or sold them on eBay, to feed my compulsion to get the latest and greatest. :-)

My latest iPod (a mini) was the first time I tried an idea of mine.... I engraved the ipod with the following:
reward if found.
email ipod_found@yahoo.com
(after first making sure that the "ipod_found" email address was available at mail.yahoo.com)

So now, if I do happen to lose my mini, I can keep an eye on that yahoo email account and maybe I'll get lucky and get it back! The fact that it's a yahoo address - instead of my personal email - means that the email address can be transferred to someone else if I ever pass this mini on to a new owner.

Good thinking, Baron, esp. about the yahoo account. You'll have to "bump" that email account now & then, to keep it alive, but, hey, I like the way you're thinking.

I used lostipods.com, my girlfriend actually lost hers and someone returned it through the site. It's cool cause you don't need to maintain an email and you can remain anonymous, you can even post reward info. The person who finds it can return it anonymously too, which is what the person who found mine did... i think they stole it and couldn't figure out how to put songs on it so they decided to get the reward.lol

Oh well, at least we got it back!

a tip to slightly increase the chance of retrieving a lost iPod...

Hello, all. I've recently found an iPod. Actually, my dad found it while driving his taxi but he asked if there was any way to return it. I searched around and found lostipods.com but they don't have this particular serial number registered. I was wondering what else I could do to try and find the person who lost this iPod? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
