The Palm Address Book could be better if ...
... PALM just used AddressBook.app as the "contacts" portion of the Palm Desktop (Similar to how -I have read- the FaxSTF X application uses the Apple AddressBook.app and the Apple PrintCenter as buildblocks of its functionality.) As described, FaxSTF X sounds like very nice OS integration (in spite of reputation; the FaxSTF group has the right idea here, IMHO.)
The duplication of resources == duplication of effort (and then some) to keep the dual address books 'sync-ed'. For all of the short-comings of the Apple Addressbook.app, I'd still rather have to contend with just 'it' instead of two. I'm optimistic that Apple's AddressBook.app will improve as Apple resources are freed up from 'more pressing' updates.

Yes, it would be nice if they were integrated, but that would mean that Palm would have to work. They can't do that!

It should actually be LESS work to use the OS X Address Book.

not to mention entourage X, eudora, etc. would be so nice if there were one central database with as many front ends as necessary. problem is they all offer different fields & their own limitations. |
