Copy high quality images from OmniGraffle to TextEdit
Authored by: NeutronMonk on May 24, '04 09:44:26AM

This tip concerns the importation of vector PDF images from OmniGraffle into TextEdit (or Illustrator- where, by the way, you can tweak the Graffle image by layer). Word won't import the image properly.

To make a PDF from a Word document (or any other document, for that matter), simply select Print, then Print as PDF.

Export as HTML for Word

This may qualify as a stand-alone hint. As many have, I too have been frustrated by Word's inability to properly deal with importing vector art. As the current hint indicates, you can use Preview to get a vector PDF from OmniGraffle that can be imported into TextEdit or Illustrator, but not Word. However, I tried exporting from OmniGraffle as an HTML image map (for test purposes at 300dpi as a TIFF- it makes for a big file, might try other settings), and lo and behold, the image in Word looked great on the screen and also printed beautifully! I also brought in Illustrator PDFs to Word via this option in OmniGraffle- worked great!
