MPEG1 files (.mpg) and Audio?
I had to do this last week, and I could get an enormous dv file (8.9GB) to work fine. But when I tried to play out an MPEG1 compressed movie (created with ffmpeg from the dv-quality qt-movie file, which played fine on the computer under quicktime), it would output the video, but not the audio. I tried all the settings (Sound Output on/off, high quality, etc.), but couldn't get the audio to output

I think this is more an issue of how QuickTime handles MPEG-1 files, rather than SimpleVideoOut itself. I had an old MPEG-1 that played back fine in QuickTime, but I was completely unable to export to a different format and preserve the audio (using QT or Final Cut Pro), so I eventually ended up grabbing it with Audio Hijack.

Run Show Movie Info (command-I) on the file in QuickTime and you might see something like: |
