How to avoid the new 'Help' URL handler vulnerability
Authored by: slughead on May 19, '04 12:14:00PM

All OS's have flaws, Windows XP had a flaw with its help program where it would delete anything in a path the URL specified, and since XP has impotent permissions, you really could just delete half the OS and no one's the wiser.

Posting fixes to vulnerabilities is what you'd expect from a reference/help/hobbyist site like this one, I can't believe there are some zealots who are so afraid of exposing the slightest flaw that they would censure the fix.

I for one don't want to worry about anything (that's why I use OS X in the first place), so if you could go ahead and post fixes, even if it's just for lil' ol' me, that'd be great.
