Organize in-progress iTunes playlists via renaming

I've developed a similar system because of my iPod. I have way too much music to fit on my iPod and I like to have an assortment of music - jazz, rock, symphonic, etc. I've created several playlists labeled like: • jazz, • rock etc. The bullet takes these to the top of the iTunes list.

The playlists with the bullets are the ones I sync my Pod to. So when I want to load up my iPod I move tunes into these folders (or remove tunes from them). Then I sync the iPod.

Why do this rather than manually manage? Simple. Manual management is no more difficult than my method but manual management means that playtime and rating information does get synced from the iPod to iTunes. Since I like creating smart lists based on last time played or number of times played or rating, this is important to me. 90% of my music listening is done with the pod. I seldom listen to music directly from my computer.
