nested lists.

Hear, hear.

I store the bulk of my music library on an external hard drive that is shared to several machines on my home network, at times including an iBook/TiBook or two.

The fact that there is no "Folder is..." selection for Smart Playlists seems like a rather odd omission. While I understand that a large number of users may not want to ever see/navigate/eventhinkabout the folder where their music files reside, many of us keep these directories organized—or use tools that do this for us—and would like to generate playlists based on where we've put that music. (e.g. 'Newly Encoded' or New Arrivals')

Beyond that, I'd venture to say that no matter what sifting/sorting/finding/grouping tools are added to the application some of us are going to wind up with a large number of playlists. It seems to me that there's a clear need for an option to group playlists into some sort of (probably folder-like) hierarchy. Or at the very least an option to manually sort them or otherwise control their display order. (Also true for the iTunes script menu.) A good example would be to compare the interfaces for Pixadex to that of Iconbox.

It's a little more starry eyed than thin-lipped.
