The exact functionality of the party shuffle would probably be tricky to replicate on the iPod. (Specifically, the ability to remove upcoming tracks from the list, and reshuffle the upcoming songs).

But I agree, I think a biased random playlist would be great addition to the iPod.

You can make a random playlist.

I use these parameters.
1. Last played is not in the last "X" days
2. Play count is less than "X"
3. Select the Limit list to X songs selected by random.

Set it to match all conditions
To rotate songs on this list set it for live updating. When a song reaches the play count you set it gets removed from the list and a new one is added.

Voila, a random playlist that updates itself!

ive got loads of playlists similar to that, using genre and comments to customise them further.

they arent the same as the party shuffle tho as the option to play favourites more is good and the mix of recent and less recently played songs works well.

just duplicating the party shuffle on the ipod would be a good start without worrying about the add/remove malarky quite yet.

The "On The Go" playlist on the iPod already offers most of the Part List features that are possible to implement on the iPod, and even does some things better. It will not populate the list with random songs for you, but you can add songs to make your own queue by clicking and holding the center button when a song is selected. It will flash, and then it will be added to the On The Go list.. You can use this as a queue, as long as you have random play off. You can't re-sort them, or delete selected songs, or select a song to play immediately next as you can do on iTunes, but you can clear the playlist, and those features would be hard to implement on the iPod anyways.
