Keep track of page location while zooming text in Safari
Authored by: osxpounder on Apr 28, '04 02:56:23PM

That single feature -- ability to resize the displayed text in a browser -- is probably my main motivation for using an Apple as my main office machine, even though I'm surrounded by hot, fast PCs. I already preferred it for multimedia work, especially video, but it was not until I learned about resizing text from the keyboard that I began to use it every day, even for email and web browsing. You just made me realize what a big deal that turned out to be -- a seemingly inconsequential feature turned out to be the lure that got me sitting in front of a Mac all day instead of a Dell.

There's plenty of other reasons I enjoy using my Mac, but that feature was the one that lured me across the cubicle.

I'm very happy you switched but ...
do you realise you could have stayed with a PC and used Mozilla to give you this feature?

You can resize in IE as well...

Actually, you can resize the text in IE as well, by selecting View->Text Size->
It's kind of awkward, but can be done. In addition, unlike mozilla / Safari, IE does have finite limits (default is Medium, you can go up or down 2 increments from there).

Note that the scalable text can be affected by how the page is designed (if the web designer specifies a pixel size for the font, then it will not resize) - there's nothing to be done about that.
