Instead of editing the ID3 tags, you could just un select every other tune in your library:
-Cmd+click on a check box in front of a some in your library
-find the songs you want to hear
-re-check those

it then only plays those selected.

I have an even easier way. I found a little program called iBeeZze. ( It can start our Mac, or wake it up, and any time, and well as force scheduled sleep. It will run programs and start iTunes and play any playlist that you want.

I would hate to be without it now. Combine it with Applescript and QuicKeys and it's a very powerful tool for automating anything. I use it to fire up WMP and Audio Hijack to record A Prairie Home Companion on NPR and then add the recording automatically to iTunes. Next time I sync my iPod, the audio program is there and I never have to worry about my Mac not being ready.
