Use an unsupported Canon IR3300 printer

This hint should also work for the iR330/400 copiers, and a variation will get the unsupported PCL-only print board to work with Jaguar. I long ago used an almost identical set-up sequence under Jaguar, with the addition of GimpPrint and GhostScript, and selection of pcl-4. The only additional step that was necessary, at least for my iR330, was to change the queue name of the printer to "print_300-405".

Just so you know, the PCL board you have in your 3300 does in fact have PostScript emulation. You cannot purchase a PCL only Multi-PDL board for the 3300. You can use the PPD that Canon has for the Jaguar 10.2 installer or even the OS9 PPD.

Use an unsupported Canon IR3300 printer

Thanks for the info - which contradicts what I have been told here in the UK. Maybe the USA spec machines were different.

The model we have is a 3 year old UK spec machine, and our official Canon supplier told us that there is no Postscript support, and indeed no postscript option is listed in the menu setup.

Sending a postscript job to the IR3300 results in raw postscript instructions being printed out in text. The same file sent to our IR C3200 prints fine (Postscript board standard on this model).

If you know of some method of enabling postscript on the board fitted, I would be delighted to hear about it as I have been quoted £400+VAT to make it postscript compatable by an authorised Canon agent!

Thank you for your interest.
