Clearing Font Cache for Mail Problems
Authored by: DavidRavenMoon on Apr 13, '04 04:20:10PM

I was suffering from this problem whenever I would activate the PostScript version of Helvetica.

So I followed the advice about removing Helvetica Fractions, that fixed the problem... Yay!

But then it returned about an hour later... so used Font Cache Cleaner to remove the font cache files, and rebooted.

The problem is still there... when I activate Helvetica, Safari displays gibberish on web pages that use Helvetica, such as VersionTracker.

Anyone have any luck with this?

Clearing Font Cache for Mail Problems

I had exactly the same problem with Helvetica Fractions. I removed it from the system (/Library/Fonts) and the problem went away. No drama.

We continue to have problems with Helvetica Neue. Apple ships Mac OS 10 with a limited set of the Helvetica Neue family. When our designers add the full set of Helvetica Neue (Post Script) to their system we get all sorts of warnings/alerts. My solution is to remove the system supplied (True Type) version. This is messy... I wish Apple had either provided the complete Helvetica Neue font family or left it out – bad Apple.
