Speed dial project

This had "Applescript project/cool waste of time" written all over it! Start with the premiss of this hint but write a script that scours your Address Book for phone numbers and then uses something like QuickTime Pro to stitch the proper tones together and then saves it to your iTunes library under "Artist" = "Speed dial" with the name of the person/business as the title of the mp3 file. You could even set up "local" vs "long distance" files to dial the appropriate number from where you are calling. That would be useful. Perhaps this had been done already?

This is interesting ... but it's an incredibly complex way to do a task that has already been ultrasimplified. Run a search for the word "phone" or the word "dial" on VersionTracker, and you'll see what I mean.

Anyone else been around long enough to remember that HyperCard had a "dial" command? Wonder how hard it would be to whip up a dial OSAX. Can't find an existing one in a cursory search.

When I read the original hint I imagined using this to speed dial while on the road with my iPod by holding the earphones to the telephone. I know, why bother, just look up the "Contact" and dial it yourself! But where is the "fun"?! ;-) Anyhow, those apps look good for when you are at your computer, thanks for steering me there.
