Installed fonts may cause Adobe app install issues

I cannot get illustrator CS to install, photoshop CS works. but not illustrator. I have tried so many different builds, OSes, G4s, every combination fails with the same error (application damaged, reinstall from master disks). but I have tried 4 master disks, and i even got new ones from Adobe. Ugh. One other person on the adobe forums had the same problem -- everyone has problems after they install (keeps crashing!!). oh joy! :(

I have found this to be true also. While trying to install the new Adobe CS programs, the installer would always crash. Normally if you have only the stock OS X installed fonts, you won't have a problem, but additional fonts may cause a problem.

Even with stock fonts, you might still have a problem. I found something on their site referring to it, but basically open Font Book and select all fonts and then disable all of them. Then run the installer again and it will work.

Adobe recommends disabling fonts one collection at a time, to see which is the cause, but disabling all of them will work. Just make sure Safari isn't running when you disable, otherwise Safari will crash. The System doesn't seem to be affected though.

Perhaps the OS fonts refuse to disable while they're being used, but it's enough to get it installed. I've also had this problem with a couple of other programs as well and disabling fonts always works.
