Network checking
Authored by: Mikey-San on Dec 08, '01 01:00:55AM

While Office X apps are network-aware, I believe they search the LAN at each app's launch, not quit. (I'm just guessing.)

Anyway, I only get this delay when quitting whilst connected to my ISP (PPP account); I never experience the delay when I'm on either the ethernet portion of our LAN at work or our AirPort network. So far, as much as I can tell, it only happens with PPP connections.

Does it happen to anyone in a LAN (non-PPPoE) environment?

Yes, it happens to me on an ethernet LAN at work and on my AirPort LAN w/ cable modem at home. I do use two IMAP accounts, one of which is my mac.com acct.

I notice that over time, I get a group of Deleted Messages that just won't go away. I can't see them when I log on to Apples Mail.app, so they're not on the server...just in Entourage. Nothing I do makes them go away, short of a Complex Rebuild.

I suspect it has something to do with Entourage trying to empty the deleted items folder by synching with the server when I have to Force Quit due to the spinning beachball.
