Use Mail's signature as a sending account reminder
How does one change the From: line in Mail? I've been trying to find a way to do this for ages, but no Help searches or Usenet searches have located this valuable information for me. What's the secret?

Well, I don't know if it's possible to change the From: line in a single given message, but if you go under your Account preferences, you can change the "Email address" and the "Full Name" to be whatever you'd like. This will alter the From: header that Mail puts on your outgoing message. However, your SMTP server may or may not like it if you spoof certain email address (especially .mil domain).

You must first have more than one account created in Mails Account Preferences. Once you do, there should be a drop-down menu for "Account" at the bottom of the header fields of any new email composition.

Are you sure about this? I'm not in a position to check, but this might work...

This is quite neat, but what I am looking for is a script or plug-in that allows customisation of the 'Automatically cc/bcc' address in Composing Tab of Mail's preferences. Currently it will only send to "myself", whereas I would like to send to another address called filing' from where my secretary can electronically file the message in a project folder. I tried inserting the filing address as an extra sending account, but to get the default 'Bcc myself' to become filing, I have to send from that account, when I want to send and receive replies in my own account. |
