10.3: Enable the Snapscan 1236s SCSI scanner
Authored by: humungus on Mar 01, '04 05:23:13AM

As I was having the same problem I thought I'd give your suggestion a try (btw, did you make the same comment at VersionTracker?). After a couple of aborted attempts to replace the file (I'm not too proficient with Terminal) I finally removed version 1.3.0 from the Extensions folder and put version 1.2.4 there in its place. Yes, ScanWise did at last work but I keep getting the following message after bootup:

The system extension "/System/Library/Extensions/IOSCSIParallelFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/IOSCSIParallelInterfaceProtocolTransport.kext" was installed improperly and cannot be used. Please try reinstalling it, or contact the product's vendor for an update.

It's a bit annoying but I am nevertheless able to use the software (no thanks to Agfa I might add). Of course I can use VueScan without any hassle but I'd just like to have things working, especially as ScanWise came with the scanner. Any further comments?

10.3: Enable the Snapscan 1236s SCSI scanner

This is an ancient thread but I want to revive it for a sec...

I tried all these extension replacements on my Wallstreet (OS X 10.3.4) and am having NO luck either with SnapScan X or Vue Scan seeing the scanner. The .kext files have been replaced and my powerbook just does not see the scanner under Os X in any circumstances, certainly not the system profiler. I know, others have gotten the scanner to report even w/o showing in Profiler. But I think maybe this is a PB issue.

Is the PB SCSI chain different from the usual SCSI somehow? Or should I try getting a SCSI terminator for the scanner? I thought these were auto-terminating...

Thanks all
