Clarification

Sorry about the confusion guys.

Apparently there are 3 "modes" of sleep (from what I can tell from the energy saver):

Computer Sleep
Display Sleep
Hard Drive Sleep

For some reason it appears that the Airport Connection is linked to the "Hard Drive Sleep" option, as opposed to the "Computer Sleep" option. In energy Saver, I tried moving my time up to a couple of hours, and I still ended up loosing my Airport connection after a very short period of time (< 20 minutes).

I had never even considered trying the "Hard Drive Sleep" option to try to hold onto my connection.

This was a hint I found on the Apple Discussion boards where someone else had a similar problem. Sorry if it wasn't as clear as could be, although I hope it's helpful to other people (like me) who have been frusterated by this problem.

I believe on non-wireless networks, machines can be "woken up" remotely, when they have network requests. Retrospect is a prime example of this as it can still back up a machine that was set to sleep. I've also connected remotely to machines that had been put to sleep, using Appletalk, and they start out a little slow, but you can still connect to them.
