Drag and drop Mail folders to create quick backups
Authored by: fuerst on Feb 24, '04 03:57:23PM

Alas drag & drop to the hard disk does not work for IMAP folders. Mail will create a file with extension .imapmbox in the file system. This file (it is a folder in real) will be attached to a new mail window after double clicking it.

According to the Mail Help you first have to drag an IMAP folder into "On My Mac" in the Mailbox drawer. After this it is possible to drag it out of Mail and get a .mbox file.
