Prevent AirPort disconnects on sleep
Authored by: raggamuffin on Feb 23, '04 08:28:29PM

I was rather wondering how the network connection was supposed to be maintained when the whole machine is sleeping (with the flashy LED). It seemed obvious to me that this would happen, but I can understand that people may be concerned about AirPort connections not auto-resuming after wake-up so that's what my post above is talking about. Quite why the hard disk should affect AirPort I don't understand.

Prevent AirPort disconnects on sleep

I have noticed that after waking from sleep, some network connections are still active! Most notable are ssh connections on the terminal (I just continue typing where I left off).
The only way I can think this works is because I am behind a NAT connection, keep the same IP address between Airport reconnects, and the connection doesn't time out (The ADSL router keeps the conneciton open on my behalf). I could be wrong on the reasons though, all I know is its a really nice feature for when taking your computer into the next room or upstairs, just close it and move without losing network connecitons.
