Use a Linux file system for Mac/PC drive sharing

It would be nice if Apple would include ext2/ext3 support in the base operating system. I use several external firewire drives with my Cube. It would be cool to be able to move them among my Cube, Powerbook, and Linux server. The only other universal option is FAT, with all of its shortcomings.

It's highly unlikely that M$ will support any open filesystems. They don't want to encourage anyone to look beyond Win*. There is a free Windows ext2 driver available at: http://uranus.it.swin.edu.au/~jn/linux/ext2ifs.htm

Have a look at http://sourceforge.net/projects/ext2fsx
ext2 file system support for MacOS X.
Tried with Jaguar - works flawlessly.
