10.3: Avoid an 'Untitled folder' naming problem
Authored by: neuralstatic on Feb 19, '04 12:27:53PM

the renaming bug has been in osX since 10.00. unless you're in icon view (do people actually use this?) it doesn't put you in renaming mode when you create a new folder.

it has been reported lots of places for a long time, but it's just one of the many small simple bugs that apple has never chosen/been able to fix.

Icon view is the only thing I use. I cannot understand how people use List or Column view in all their windows. YUCK!

Icon view

I use different views for different folders...for example, I use icon view for a folder of pictures or icons, the better to see them with. I use list view for Applications and Utilities, so I can see the version number. I use column view for the hard drive, the better to burrow around in...I just wish I could turn on hidden files and folders by window type!
