Sometimes Apple will eliminated certain sound effects to make room for new ones. Applying this hint will preserve these SFX for later use when desired.

It worked for me and did reduce the startup time by a few seconds on a Dual 867G4.

One could also remove the sounds from the folders, but not the folders.

Good idea. Maybe even a folder alias placed in the new location where your SFX reside so you can drop them back in if you feel it is necessary.

Wow. I am using a 1 GHz PowerBook and now iMovie pops open immediately. There is no delay.
