Use Full Keyboard Access in Safari 1.2
How like Apple to finally give us a feature that nearly every other browser on the planet has had, yet to implement it following some purist concept (i.e. full system-wide keyboard access) as to make it unappealing to many (well, me, at least).

I think it's good to keep keyboard navigation consistent and the same as the rest of the OS, although I agree that it should be able to be turned on independent of the rest of the system (for those that want Keyboard navigation on Safari but not the OS, or the other way round)

If you ask me, this is another example of Apple getting the small things wrong, wrong, wrong. Let's say you tab to a menu and type the first few letters of one of the choices on it. If those letters appear anywhere in the text of the page, suddenly the page jumps to the first occurrence of those letters and selects them... to override this and instead select a menu option that matches those letters, you must first type a down-arrow to open the menu. (At least, *I* have to type a down arrow... other people said that spacebar opens it, but that doesn't work for me.) Then, after the menu is open, you can type a few letters to select your option. |
